VHS to Digital Transfers Terms and Conditions

1. Service Overview

Monster Vintage provides a direct transfer of VHS tapes to digital MPG files or DVD format. This service does not include editing, restoration, colour correction, or enhancement. Footage is transferred as-is from the original tape.

2. Tape Condition

Older tapes may contain flicker, lines, audio issues, or brief skips. These are normal signs of age and cannot be corrected. If a tape is too damaged to digitise, a refund will be given for the service, but shipping costs are not refundable.

3. Content Restrictions

To comply with New Zealand law, Monster Vintage cannot transfer:

  • Pornographic or sexually explicit content
  • Footage involving minors in any sexual context
  • Graphic violence or harmful content

If restricted content is discovered during transfer, the process will be stopped and the tape will be returned with no refund given.

4. Copyright

By submitting a tape, you confirm that you own the rights to the content or have permission to reproduce it. Monster Vintage is not responsible for copyright violations arising from customer-submitted material.

5. Output Format

Digital files are provided in MPG format. DVDs are burned on DVD-R for the best compatibility with most players. Monster Vintage is not responsible for compatibility issues with older or uncommon devices.

6. USB Add On

If you choose the USB option, the USB will be tested before dispatch. Monster Vintage is not responsible for damage caused by customer devices, USB ports, or misuse.

7. Privacy

Your footage is kept private and is not shared. Files are stored temporarily for delivery and are deleted after 14 days unless otherwise requested. Tapes remain in Marton for the entire process.

8. Payment

Payment is required before digital files, DVDs, or USBs are released or returned. Pricing is listed on the product page and may be updated at any time.

9. Shipping and Returns

Return postage is charged at $8 urban and $12 rural. Shipping costs are non-refundable in all circumstances, including if a tape cannot be digitised. Monster Vintage is not responsible for postal delays, loss, or damage once the parcel has been sent.

10. Turnaround Time

Turnaround time is typically 1 week plus shipping. This timeframe is an estimate and may vary.

11. Liability

While every effort is made to handle tapes with care, Monster Vintage is not liable for:

  • Pre-existing tape damage
  • Tape failure due to age or degradation
  • Loss or damage caused by postal services
  • Compatibility issues with customer devices

Tapes are handled carefully, but due to the age of VHS media, risks cannot be fully eliminated.
